The mandarin vampire crab is an adorable colour variant of vampire crab with orange/red legs and claws, a red/purpleish body and little yellow eyes. Like all of this species it is a land crab though it does require fresh water in which it can submerge itself in when it wants to. See full description for care.

Vampire crabs (Geosesarma species) are small, colorful semi-terrestrial crabs that thrive in humid, tropical environments. Vampire crabs preferably need a paludarium-style enclosure with both land and shallow water, though a water dish which is big enough for the crabs to submerge in would be a bare minimum. A small group of 2 or 3 can live comfortably in a 10–20 gallon tank. The enclosure should be mostly land (about 70–80% land, 20–30% water). Use moist coco fiber or cocofibre/sand substrate, add moss for the land area and provide rocks, wood, and plants for hiding and climbing. The water area should be shallow and easy for the crabs to enter and exit.
Keep the enclosure between 22–28°C (72–82°F) with high humidity (70–90%). Regular misting helps maintain humidity. A secure lid is a good idea as crabs will climb up the plants and other decor to escape, though they can’t climb glass. A lid will also help maintain humidity.
Water
Provide dechlorinated fresh water in the water section. The water should be shallow. A small filter can help keep the water fresh, but frequent water changes are also important.
Vampire crabs are omnivores. Feed a varied diet including:
Small insects (fruit flies, mealworms, bloodworms)
Crab or shrimp pellets
Fish flakes
Vegetables like courgette or broccoli
Occasional fruit
Feed small amounts daily or every other day and remove uneaten food to prevent mold.
Vampire crabs are best kept in small groups, ideally one male with multiple females, to reduce aggression. Provide plenty of hiding places to help minimize territorial disputes.
Like all crabs, vampire crabs shed their exoskeleton as they grow. During molting they may hide and become inactive. Do not disturb them during this time, and leave the old shell in the enclosure so they can eat it to regain nutrients.
With proper care, vampire crabs typically live 2–3 years.

If you’ve received an unwell animal in the mail:
1. If it is safe to do so, (your pet is not medically significant or harmful) please remove the animal from its transport container, ideally onto your hand. We ask this as invertebrates, particularly insects, are experts at ‘playing dead’.
2. To provide you with the best advice going forward and to confirm the condition of your pet, we kindly request a short video of the animal in question before your refund can be processed. This can be uploaded on our ‘live guarantee refunds form’, or you can email it straight to us.
3. We typically respond within 24 hours, but please allow 1-3 working days for a response. Once it’s confirmed that you are eligible for a refund, we’ll get process the credit to your account.
We’ll need this information to reach us within 7 days after you’ve received your pet. We cannot provide any live guarantee to animals that have been refused, returned, or not collected.
