Phidippus otiosus, the canopy jumping spider, gets it’s name from the fact it is most often found in tree canopies. This spider is very similar to the Phidippus Regius. So similar that they have been cros bred in captivity. There are those of the opinion that it is simply a variant of P. Regius. All we know is that it is a truly stunning spider with similar care requirements to P. Regius and we love it! It comes in two forms; orange and white. Both are gorgeous, the orange has a metalic golden lustre and the white has a similar appeal to the Bahamas Regal. Colours are present on both males and females unlike the regal jumper where the males are always black and white. Growing close to an inch in leg span, phidippus otiosus are small but wonderful, and remarkably easy to care for. Since this arachnid does not grow very large, it can be suitably housed in small affordable setups. Primary care requirements revolving around keeping their environment suitably humid, warm and give them regular feedings of live food such as crickets, or fruit flies for spiderlings. The canopy ‘jumper’ is a remarkably intelligent invertebrate due to its complex hunting behaviors, they must always analyze their prey’s next move. Not only are they smart, but also agile, being able to leap up to 6 times their own body length in pursuit of prey. Even their eyesight is amazing, expertly adapted to observe potential food from far distances. This combination of unique traits makes the canopy jumping spider an excellent hunter and ultimately a fascinating animal to watch take down prey in captivity. But, as brilliantly skilled as we think they are, these arachnids are truly beloved for their beautiful & cute appearance- you’d be hard-pressed to find a cuter spider.

We’re confident in the quality husbandry, shipping, and packaging of our livestock. On the rare occasion an animal arrives in poor condition, we will provide credit for the cost of that animal. If all animals in the shipment arrive in poor condition, we will also provide credit for the postage.
We try to make it as easy as possible to help any unwell critters, and ensure you can get your money back. There are a couple of steps to go through before a refund can be issued.
If you’ve received an unwell animal in the mail:
1. If it is safe to do so, (your pet is not medically significant or harmful) please remove the animal from its transport container, ideally onto your hand. We ask this as invertebrates, particularly insects, are experts at ‘playing dead’.
2. To provide you with the best advice going forward and to confirm the condition of your pet, we kindly request a short video of the animal in question before your refund can be processed. This can be uploaded on our ‘live guarantee refunds form’, or you can email it straight to us.
3. We typically respond within 24 hours, but please allow 1-3 working days for a response. Once it’s confirmed that you are eligible for a refund, we’ll get process the credit to your account.
We’ll need this information to reach us within 7 days after you’ve received your pet. We cannot provide any live guarantee to animals that have been refused, returned, or not collected.
