Do not place the heat mat inside of the enclosure, nor at the base of the enclosure, as heat will rise and burrowing critters will not have a place to cool down. This heat mat is great and the perfect size. But sometimes I think it’s the low wattage it struggles to be accurate. I use it with a thermostat.
