Achatina achatina reigns supreme as the largest land snail in the world, growing up to 20cm in length. This stunning albino variety is even more impressive, with beautiful tiger-striped shell and pale white body. This land snail species is relatively easy to care for, as are most land snails, however, care should be taken to maintain this snail’s balanced diet of fresh veg, protein, and calcium. We recommend leafy greens, mixed dried invertebrates for protein such as Gammarus shrimp, mealworms, silk worms, along with calcium sources like cuttlebone, egg shell, and oyster shell.
Achatina Achatina likes it warm and toasty, and should be kept at least 28°C (82°F) and 30°C (86°F). Ensuring this snail has a deep, moisture retaining substrate will keep it happy and healthy, along with plenty of hiding places for daytime resting. Two shallow dishes, one for clean, fresh water, and one for its food, will ensure your snail can bathe and eat cleanly. A large, ventilated enclosure is ideal. While the giant west African land snail is not so active during the day due to its nocturnal nature, your snail will want to wander around when it gets a little darker.
