Caring for your Goliath flower beetle, Goliathus Goliatus

Habitat and Substrate: Each larvae must have its own deep container filled with a mixture of flake soil and rotting wood will allow them to feed. Do not keep multiple larvae in the same habitat. This substrate should be slightly moist but never waterlogged. The container must be spacious enough to accommodate the larva’s growth, as Goliathus goliatus larvae can reach a large size before pupation.

Temperature and Humidity: Maintain a temperature range between 20°C to 24°C (68°F to 75°F), keeping the substrate slightly moist will provide enough humidity. Regularly monitoring the temperature and humidity levels will help prevent the substrate from drying out or becoming too damp, which could harm the larvae.

Diet: The larvae of Goliathus goliatus are detritivores, feeding primarily on the decomposed organic matter found in their substrate. However, supplementing their diet with protein-rich foods like dried insects can promote healthier growth and development. Ensure that any added food is buried within the substrate.

Handling: Minimal handling is recommended, as the larvae can be delicate. When necessary, handle gently to avoid stress or injury.

Pupation: As the larvae mature and prepare for pupation, they will typically construct a chrysalis within the substrate. At this stage, it’s important to disturb them as little as possible, providing a stress-free environment for the metamorphosis into adulthood.
